Ten of the best Advent calendars for 2017
Advent calendars stuffed with luxury and high street beauty and make up products, food and drink items and even pet treats are becoming more commonplace. Here are ten of the best Advent calendars for 2017 to suit every budget – and taste – on the high street and online:

These include: Korres Wild Rose Advanced Repair (16ml), Nuxe Prodigieux Shower Oil (30ml), Rosie for Autograph Amazing Radiance Body Glow (50ml), Leighton Denny Glitter Nail Polish (12ml) and Eyeko Black Magic Mascara (4ml).

Superstar Sparkling Advent Calendar
Wine retailer The Pip Stop has produced a sparkling wine Advent calendar, which includes 24 20cl bottles of white and rosé fizz including prosecco, cava and champagne.
Cost: It costs £125, which works out at just over £5 per (small) bottle, for brands which include Laurent Perrier and Bottega. And if you don’t want to drink them, they would make great little presents for friends and family.

The Body Shop 25 Ultimate Advent Calendar
The Body Shop’s 25 Days Ultimate Advent Calendar is filled with a selection of beauty treats from body care and skincare, to make-up and accessories. These include: Shower Gel British Rose (60ml), Moisture Cream Vitamin E (50ml), Hand Cream Almond (100ml) and Drops Of Youth Concentrate (30ml)

The Grand Chocolate Advent Calendar
Luxury chocolatiers Hotel Chocolat have a range of Advent calendars with solid white, dark, milk and caramel chocolate. The one that caught my eye is the rather impressively named The Grand Chocolate Advent Calendar. It’s a two-sided calendar packed with treats including salted caramel vodka, crackers filled with pralines, new treacle tarts cased in a 40% milk chocolate pastry case sculpted from real paper and more.
Cost: It costs £68, which is rather a lot for a chocolate Advent calendar, however they do have cheaper calendars available, which start from £8. UK standard delivery (3-5 working days) is £3.95 for one item or £4.95 for two or more. UK click and collect is free.
Marshmallow Advent Calendar
If you don’t have a taste for chocolate, the Naked Marshmallow company has created their very own marshmallow Advent calendar. It has 25 gooey pieces in six different flavours which are: S’mores, Candy Cane, Humbug, Gingerbread, Mint Choc Chip & Choc Orange. Their marshmallows are handmade in the UK using natural ingredients and no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives.
Cost: £13. Pre-order your calendar online for delivery no later than November 21st. Delivery costs £2.95.
Tea Advent Calendar
Bluebird Tea Co. hand blend all their teas in the UK and after selling out last year, their Tea Advent Calendar is back with 24 award-winning tea gifts. These include a range of silk pyramid tea bags, such as Snowball, Christmas Cake, and Gingerbread Chai and new, exclusive Christmas blends, Mrs Claus’ Raspberry Prosecco, Mince Pie and Spiced Clementine. The calendar also includes mini matcha sachets, Bluebird pin badge and tea scented solid perfume.
Cost: £36. Free UK delivery on orders over £35.
Cheese Advent Calendar
Apparently, the world’s first cheese Advent calendar created by the blogger of So Wrong It’s Nom, is available at Asda. It includes 24 individually wrapped cheeses in five different varieties: Jarlsberg, Applewood and Ilchester Mature Cheddar, Red Leicester Cheese and Wensleydale with cranberries. It will (probably obviously!) need to be kept in the fridge and has been designed so one half of the calendar can be torn off after the first 12 days of Christmas to maximise space in your fridge.
Cost: £8. On sale November 9th in Asda.
House of Fraser Beauty Advent Calendar
Behind each of the 24 doors of House of Fraser’s Beauty Advent Calendar you’ll find a beauty product to “make you feel glamorous throughout the holiday season”. The calendar includes their own-brand Colour Couture mascara, eyeliner, lipsticks, nail polishes and more.
Cost: £20, down from £25.
Pets Advent Calendar
Lily’s Kitchen, the natural and organic pet food company, has a range of Advent calendars, which include naturally wholesome, delicious treats, available for dogs and cats.
Cost: £9.95. Standard UK delivery (1-3 working days) is £4.95 or free when you spend £29 or more.
Pets at Home also have a range of Advent calendars made especially for your furry friends. Dogs, cats and small animals can all enjoy a daily treat with these calendars.

Other calendars are available!
This is all very nice, I hear you cry, but what if I just want a ‘normal’ calendar, without all the trimmings? As you’d expect, all the main supermarkets including Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Tesco are selling a wide range starting at £1.50. And if you are looking for a truly traditional calendar, you can find them online at Eden.
