Lauren asks:

My partner has been approached by an agency saying he is entitled to claim back his interest on things such as hire purchase items and credit cards. They say he is entitled to nearly £2000. I think it sounds too good to be true. They have requested an admin
fee of about £200.00.

They directed my partner to the site Claims Regulation but, to be honest, the site makes no sense to me! The company are offering this service to my partner and up to 10 family members. They want us to decide quite quickly and I feel we are being scammed.

I would have thought this sort of scheme would have applied to the self employed, or
businesses, not us regularly employed folks. Are we being scammed?

You are right to be cautious. As you can see from the information on the Ministry of Justice website , there has been an growth in the number of "claims management" companies which maintain that, because of a legal loophole, they can get you of your credit agreements. The reality is that usually they can't.

The Ministry of Justice lists the companies specifically banned for making such misleading claims and maybe the company that have approached you are not yet listed - or have re-invented themselves with a different name etc.   Approach with extreme caution and never, ever pay money up front.
