Laura asks:

Is it worth putting money into my child's trust fund plan, if we don’t know for sure if we are to remain in the UK until he's 18?

If you do move overseas your child trust fund will remain open and family and friends will be able to continue saving in the account. It is also possible to make payments into child trust fund accounts from abroad, although no further Government contributions will be made while your child is away from the UK (so, if you move abroad before he is seven, you will miss out on that payment).

On your child’s 18th birthday, regardless of where he lives, the account will stop being a child trust fund account and he can choose to carry on saving or use the money as he thinks best.
