Sarah is a Chartered Financial Planner (a type of independent financial adviser) and has worked in the financial services since 1990. She operates on a fee basis and takes a holistic approach to helping people with their finances. Sarah has a particular expertise in pensions and retirement options.

Peter has had a long career in mortgages. Before joining indepedent brokers John Charcol, working in their mortgage technical team he was a senior mortgage underwriter with Halifax. He has an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of mortgages and can advise on all areas of the market. He is a staunch advocate of true independent advice.

Audrey is Director of Energy with the consumer watchdog, Consumer Focus. She has worked in the energy industry for 14 years, initially with the regulator Ofgem. Since 2000, Audrey has worked for consumer groups specialising in energy related issues.

Janet followed in her mother’s footsteps and started her career as a nurse before working in marketing for a London hospital. In 2005, she set up Symponia with her husband Jeremy, to act as an umbrella organisation for independent financial advisers who specialise in care fees planning. Janet has worked with a large number of financial companies and spoken about care fees at conferences.

David has worked at Family Law in Partnership since 1998. He specialises in the financial aspects of divorce and separation and is also a mediator and collaborative lawyer.  He has a particular interest and expertise in issues affecting unmarried couples and civil partners.

Jill has insurance in her veins as she has been working in the industry since 1969, when she started as a travel insurance underwriter. In her current role, she specialises in car and household insurance for high net worth clients. Jill is also a qualified independent financial adviser and arranges medical insurance for individuals and employers.

John knows more about tax than most people - and can explain it clearly! He worked as a tax partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers for 25 years, dealing with all aspects of taxation. He is regularly used by newspapers, magazines, radio and TV programmes to comment on and explain tax issues and changes.

Penny trained and practised as a doctor before leaving the NHS in 1981 to work in the city. Later, she was employed as an independent financial adviser specialising in investments, before setting up The Onion Group in 1998. It offers fee-based financial, legal and medical advice to individuals and small groups.

Tony is Technical Manager at The Pensions Advisory Service for 12 years. TPAS is the free and independent service which offers information and guidance on all pension matters. It also helps resolve disputes about private pensions (including work-based and personal plans).

John is a managing partner at Barchester Green Investment, which he joined in 2003, where he advises both national and international clients in planning their finances without compromising their values. John specializes in sustainable investment portfolio design, high impact social investing and retirement planning.

Nicola qualified as a solicitor in 2000. Nicola specialises in wills, inheritance tax planning, trusts, probate and the legal affairs of the elderly.

Anna set up her first independent financial adviser (IFA) business in 1990 and joined the original "for women by women" IFA (Fiona Price & Partners) in 2000 as a director and adviser, before launching Addidi in 2008. Anna is passionate about helping women to create and invest their wealth to make a difference to their own and others' lives.

Lee is a welfare benefits and tax credits expert. He is the managing director of IncomeMAX, a Community Interest Company that helps people to understand their benefit and tax credit entitlement. Lee appears regularly on a range of BBC television and radio programmes commenting on the benefits and tax credits system. He also writes a 'Benefits Doctor' column for national and regional publications.

Caroline has been with the Financial Ombudsman Service since it was founded in 2001 and has worked in financial services for over 20 years. Caroline leads the ombudsman’s work providing training to consumer advisers and financial businesses on the role of the ombudsman and its likely approach to complaints. She is a member of the British and Irish Ombudsman Association, the Personal Finance Society and the Institute of Equality and Diversity.

Sylvia is a Trading Standards Officer with 25 years' enforcement experience, principally in the field of Fair Trading legislation. She is currently seconded to the Trading Standards Institute (TSI) as the Policy Officer and Principal Training Officer. As well as dealing with policy issues she is responsible for training businesses, consumer advisors and trading standards professionals and is also a national spokesperson for Fair Trading matters.
